Apple has never changed this policy and they never will.
I would have liked to see the promised updates for Facebook. It seems Apple may have fallen down on the job (no pun intended).

I was able to install the firmware update without any problems - to an external USB boot drive noless :p
Is that possible? You're booting from an external and applying the firmware update to your mac right?

Not if the stand allowed the iMac to be parallel to the desk surface as well as perpendicular.
That is what people aren't understanding. They see something and imagine it being the same design despite function changing. If they do touchscreen, it won't be long (if not instant) before they redo how it sits on the table.
A design that allows the screen to go relatively flat and vertical is necessary. This design should have been done already 3 years ago.

I'm just stating pure fact:
Most of the people I know that shop at Wal-Mart don't own an iPod with video let alone a computer that supports iTunes videos. Most own super cheap or older Wintel boxes and some cheap flash MP3 player. They will still go to Wal-Mart to buy DVDs.
What is Wal-Mart worried about?

Pentax use Samsung sensors.
They may use Samsung in some cameras, buy they also make extensive use of Sony sensors. I'm sure one of Pentax will confirm, but I thought the majority (not all) of their sensors are from Sony.
Here is a CNET article from a few days ago, as just one example
Sony's sensors are used not only in its own still cameras and video cameras but also in SLR cameras from Nikon and Pentax. The company isn't afraid to raise expectations about backside illumination and other technologies it plans to use in its sensors.

You forgot to mention the price difference too.... Yeah they both have their advantages and disadvantages, but if I were to get a computer right now, I would get a PC. It is because I can find a 2.8 GHz PC for half the price of a 1.25 (2x) pMac. Luckily for apple, I am waiting, because I trust apple to release something revolutionary within a year from now. ::::coug:::: GPUL ::::cough::::.. :D

Only on an Apple forum, when new features are raised as possibilities, does a sizeable minority of posts involve griping about "Why would you want to do that?!" or "What kind of stupid feature is that?"
I don't see what's so hard to accept that some times, in some instances, some people might find use of over-the-air updates. Given that Apple always releases new iOS updates at 1pm during weekdays, when the vast majority of us are at work, I can easily invision scenarios where there's a cool new feature in a point update that everyone wants to give a spin. Why not start the download at work so it's ready to test drive before you leave the office?
And, to all those citing bandwidth constraints as curtailing this behavior: Verizon users have no such constraints.

Yep. Hear it all the time. "Protect my family", "Keep my family safe". In other words, kill the other party so that your offspring may live. The attitude needs to change. Yugo's for everyone.
I used to hear this all the time from my ex-girlfriend. Whenever she drove her mom's expedition she'd claim that she "felt so safe".
Compensating for poor driving skills with the consumer equivalent of a tank.

Seems like Verizon isn't getting the love as AT&T is getting.
With the most likely combined CDMA/GSM iPhone 5 the iPhone 4 on Verizon is going to be Apples red headed stepchild.

It could be cool if they implemented touch into iOS (or whatever). When I first heard about it, I was imagining they'd have some dashboard like space for the iOS apps. Not so sure I'd want to keep my arms and hands in the air for while I'm surfing, though. I'm really hoping that this rumor turns into some sort of cool implementation of AppleTV, taking it out of the hobby category. I just love the concept of AppleTV. I hope that architecture of watching TV wins out. I'd rather take Comcast out of the equation somehow, at least for the TV part.

The later option involves an ugly screw in the middle of your macbook.
I just had my heatsink replaced last weekend, and I just now noticed the screw. Oh well...

Biggest advantage I can see would be adding and removing seats on a month-by-month basis based on business needs. For example, imagine your business suddenly picks up for a couple of months, and need an extra license for a contractor or other temporary worker you bring on.
You're right, though, in that if you miscalculate, you may end up paying more for a temporary license than you would for a permanent one.
This. For agencies who hire temporary designers paying $129 for a month's liscense is a great idea. (Rather than have to purchase a full copy at retail).
I'm not getting it because I'm not paying $549 to go from CS5 MC to 5.5. It's a cash grab and I can live without the new features. I always wait until the next FULL update.

Does it mean that apple takes your battery back whether you like it or not?
Yes. Failure to report to our masters in Cupertino will result in a squad of nerds in brown and black cloaks to appear at your door armed with swords, demanding you exchange your old battery for the one they bring you.
In other news, my A1078 cleared the gatekeepers...

It's really amazing to see here people justifying the price of Windows Vista, when not even corporations think about migrating to the "new" OS in 2-years time...Vista is just a rehashed NT, and no company will need it in the short term.

Geez, this is a MONEY LOSER if there ever was one.
I loved the beatles when I was 6.
But, these days who's going to be buying these tracks!!!
Steve must love the Beatles, because this is a gift.
And will hardly be a profitable venture.
---
Yes, the stereo effect on the early albums is hard on headphones.
The drums ONLY in the Right ear.
The Guitars ONLY in the Left...

I really want to see how Leopard is going to turn out. There has been so much hype surrounding WWDC, I really hope WWDC is as good as everyone rumors it to be.
There have been way too many posts on WWDC...It's making me sick..
A Banner isn't going to give away SQUAT! We must wait until the keynote and any other possible leaks hours before the keynote to actually know what happens.

Still have my iPod hooked up via USB in my Infiniti with all my music. Flash is too expensive to replace a HDD with the required size. Maybe a slight revamp but the classic iPod is still selling well enough for Apple I don't see it being removed in the near future.

Time for Apple to learn what a patch is. Best example of patching desperately being needed is Xcode which requires the whole 4.25gb app to be downloaded every single time they update. They could change 1 line of code and you need to download 4.25gb. That's just bad design.

Odd that it isn't also at 1 infinite loop. Hmmm, maybe this is their 'area 51' of sorts. I feel a conspiracy coming on.
Nah dude, the battery division is in a different building :-)
3rd Gen iPod Touch update - 409Mb
1st Gen iPad update - 593Mb
Wonder why such a big difference in download size when neither have things like Face Time...

Wait - so this guy ISN'T using AirPort extreme?
I haven't seen the video, but it sounds to me like he found some crappy third party card that's Mac compatible, which has a security problem, and deliberately decided to show this card's security problem on a Mac.
In other words - it's not an Apple issue, it's not an AirPort issue, it's not an OS X issue, it's not a MacBook issue - it's an issue with some weird USB Wireless card that could have been shown on any number of computers, but was recorded for the public in use on a MacBook.
Is that correct?
If I'm right, that's so lame...
