Has anyone applied FAFSA or Stafford loan with Parolee status ? , I am planning to apply for my online degree. I have H1B ,but using AP to reenter.
I had applied for my wife when on parolee status.I guess you would have to been paroled for atleast a year before you can apply.

Saxx, try making sure you don't have other Flash windows up. I'm using the Sound Spectrum analyzer and it doesn't like to share with other flash apps. Close any YouTube windows you have up and try again please.

I feel that getting the EAD will give us more flexibility to survive in this economic condition as well as eligibility for spouse to work.

You could apply to change status from L-1 to H-1B while staying in the US. If the L-1 expires while the change of status is pending, however, you could not work during the gap.
You should not have a problem getting a H-1B visa in India. Have you thought about Canada or Mexico either?

:confused: Guys ,
I just checked my I140 approval notice and it shows LUD as July 28th 2007
I am totally confused as to why it shows that since my I140 is approved since a long time .
I have applied for 485 on June 29th 2007 and it reached USCIS TSC on July 2nd 2007.
Does the LUD on my I140 have anything to do with my 485 Application ??
Please advise ?

Thanks to all who responded. I really appreciate your time. Your replies have really been useful. It seems like one can maintain both H-1B and I-485 adjudicating status simultaneously. Some employers probably go by the policy of continuing H-1B status. Only thing for me is that I will have to go for visa stamping which I really did not want to as it is such a hassle and takes a lot of time.

One of my colleague did withdraw his PF in an exactly same situation (not in TCS though), and you can definitely file 10C and 19 directly with the PF office without involving your employer. PF administration is now much more efficient and strictly works on behalf of employees, not employers. Even if any PF amount is not deposited by the company, PF has started taking immidiate actions against them.

IMO, you should spend the money yourself instead of depending on the company for GC expenses...
Why are you worried about the money? Go hire a lawyer and get your GC process started, asking your manager/HR just for the paperwork support. That way it is easier for you and easier for them too...IMO, Asking the company to bear the expenses for GC is too much, especially in this economy.
As far as H1 is concerned, I guess you need to be in constant touch with your manager and press the issue till she talks to the immigration people and move from there. Talk to your supervisor and ask his help to move the paperwork faster. May be he/she can in turn talk to the HR person to speed things up, without the baloney you are hearing from HR. Also, talk to the lawyer and offer your HR manager that the lawyer can speak to her directly about the issue to speed up things...
In the meantime, keep your options open and look for another job so that you can transfer your H1 and start fresh...Hopefully if this option works, don't make the mistake of waiting for HR to start your GC process...Just be proactive and do it on your own...

I do not think so. I have contacted Congressman but I doubt my lawyer pr employer will ever know about it. But on separate note, whats the issue if employer/lawyer get to know about it ?

Just realized I should mention that they look quite good as they are, and if you wanted to tinker with the stuff I mentiioned above I think you could turn it into something that would knock some eyeballs out.
