Thanks for a great forum. I am EB3 India (PD Dec 02) with 140 approved June this year. Rumor has it that the small firm I work for, is going to be acquired by a much larger firm with thousands of employees globally. I am concerned about my ongoing GC process. First question
Q1. What happens to my GC process?
Considering the behemoth like size of the company that is going to acquire us I am quite sure that the GC process of the few employees from my present employer will take a back seat.
Q2. What are the things I can do proactively.
I have read on various threads that it is possible to join other employers and port the PD to them. But considering the fact that company that started the GC process is no longer there, how would this porting of PD with new labor, 140 etc would occur...
I would appreciate if someone can provide answers to my questions. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
After your I-140 is approved, according to my lawyer, the PD is yours to keep. Even if they withdraw your I-140, you get to keep your PD.

I spoke with A CSR at NSC and she said she could n't confirm if the address has been updated or not since it is private information and she doesn't have access to it.
I asked her about my EAD card.
She took my reciept# ,checked the status and asked me to give the new address and said she sent request for the card to be resent.
Is this how they do it ?
So do I need to talk to IIO to see of my address is updated or not?

Yes, PR visa is not extendable....Also, you dont have to apply for any PR card when you go to Canada. When you enter Canada, you will automatically be a PR starting that day and the PR will be mailed to the Canadian address you provide at the airport....Its your choice to apply for a SIN card (US equivalent of SSN card)...For this you will have to go to the nearest office to do so. Usually the landing procedure takes 2 to 3 hrs...You can return the same day...PR card is issued for 5 yrs from the date of your landing and you can stay 3 yrs out of Canada...To maintain PR status, you will have to be physically present in Canada for atleast 2 yrs..Hope it works out for you.....

If I use H1-B transfer, have I to ask my new employer to do PERM again and then I-140??

Is it just enough to send a AC-21 letter to USCIS that I chnaged to a new job which is similar to the one for which I got PERM & I-140 approval.
Please advise.
If you have completed your 180 days with your 'parent' company.. then you are safe!
It's safer to get H1 transfer as mentioned by seltzer above
Your new company should be able to take care of AOS transfer for you which means change of representation - i.e. a new attorney representing your AOS case now AND change of job!

Bank denied a consumer loan ,after approval due to immigration status specifically they said no loan unless you are a citizen. i am a permanent resident , leaving in the US for over 15 years. Applying for naturalization this year. Also the same bank had approved a consumer loan 2 years ago and now they say "oh we made a mistake then". Case or no case? I think I have been discriminated against.

the topic of discussion will be - how to get illegals a greencard in a quick/fair manner. Any discussion of legal non-immigrants and pains they have to go through in the current EB2/EB3/Visa stamp topics will be considered taboo.

alright fresh from this incident. my mother had 10 yr tourist visa expiring in 3 months after her travel date. in the old days it was recommended that you have at least 6 month visa validity when entering US for immigration purposes. Following that guideline she applied for a new tourist visa of course referring the current one on passport. While during her interview they didn't ask her any questions and told her that its a go. Her application got stuck in security verification which triggered due to the fact that she already had a valid visa. Upon researching further I found out you are safe to travel even a day before your visa is expiring because once you enter the country your stay is based on I-94 validity and not your visa. Hope this helps.

Make them come since we pay Taxes. That way , they know that there is legal Immigration Community .
Invite the Heads of DMV so that they can address our driving problems
Invite SSN people local heads.
When we do this, we can pay for their expenses to join us in that meet.
I am open to it. Not only by contribution but also working.
Try to get IV members to join the State chapters first. Try to get the community to support IV first. Try to get the community make phone cals send letters first.
It is a step by step process. We have to get enough buzz and enough support from within our own community before we can call politicians or VIPs to come to our meets and greets

If you have the ead card, the file #/card# will tell you which center was your EAD fiiled. To get an approximate date using the online case status search for the file number in the approximate range as yours. For Eg. if you card # is EAC 07 043 52343 - then the center is Vermont, Filed in Fisical year 07 ( Oct -06 - Sep 07) 043 is the 43rd working day in FY07 and 52343 is the case number.

dailykos.com is the most powerful and most popular liberal blog. Opinion that gets set there is influential with Democratic legislators. There is significant support there for high-tech immigration, but I think the tide could easily turn.
I need help from fellow IVers in refuting such ridiculous diaries as the one above. Please register and follow developments there, and please post responses when these issues come up.
I can't stress this enough: dailykos has a strict trolling/abuse policy. If you lose your cool and start abusing, you will get banned in a flash. So please be courteous.

A few days ago I posted a message on one of the threads in IV saying day by day reading some responses on h1 bashing makes me feel like I am on an anti-immigrant website rather than a website fighting for legal eb immigrants.
It feels sad and disheartening to see some members attacking h1 when they themselves are on h1. By attacking h1 they are attacking the very movement and people that IV is trying to help. Sure there are some abuses on h1 but lets not attack h1 like anti immigrants. Let’s fight the people outside who attack h1 and this community but let’s also clean our own house as well and not parrot the same anti h1 rhetoric in IV forum.
