My H1B visa stamp is not current or up-to-date on my passport. We have booked our flights with North-west airlines and KLM which will depart from Detroit-Amsterdam-Mumbai. I have few questions pertaining to my travel.
1) Would I still need to get a transit visa for Amsterdam, even though our flight will be halting for few may be 3-4 hours at Amsterdam- Schiphol Airport? If I do have to arrange for Amsterdam transit-visa, then where should I start as far as documentation is concerned.
- You don't need a transit visa for Schipol.
2) Besides carrying my Passport, Advance parole copies with me, please advise me if I need to carry any more documentation from my end.
- You don't need any other document; you can carry the I-485 receipt notice.
3) Would I need a copy of employment letter for visa purpose, or carrying my recent pay-stubs would be fine?

After you read the summary, will know how far are we in our process. Could I ask for a permit to work for her? How long would the process take to get our residence? Because according to my attorney, the immigration office is now processing the residence petitions made on Dec 2002, that means the is behind 8 years. Does that mean that I need to wait 8 more years? Please inform.
I would like to inform you that Mr. Mizrahi his first H-1B visa on June 27, 2003. The visa was approved from June 27, 2003 until May 3, 2006. On or about September 5, 2005, Mr. Mizrahi�s new employer submitted a new application for Mr. Mizrahi. This new H-1B visa was approved on September 30, 2005. The validity dates of the new visa were September 29, 2005 until September 5, 2008. On or about March 8, 2007, Mr. Mizrahi�s new employer submitted a new application for Mr. Mizrahi. The new H-1B visa was approved on March 9, 2007. The validity dates of that visa were March 9, 2007 until February 9, 2009.
According to the above information, Mr. Mizrahi�s six year limit should have ended on May 3, 2009. However, Mr. Mizrahi has made over 60 trips outside of the United States during this time span. Mr. Mizrahi spent 333 days outside of the US during the time that he has held his H-1B visa. Mr. Mizrahi was able to recapture does days and that is why his H-1B visa was extended until May 26, 2010. Further, Mr. Mizrahi has a Labor Certification and an I -140 approved through the same employer. Hi I'm currently working as a strategist in an ad agency on OPT, which expires in June this year. My H1B application was denied because my major in college was French and the lawyer obviously wasn't able to establish the connection between my major and my work (although in my defense, my college was a liberal arts college, there weren't any specialized majors such as advertising, communications, etc. It's all about cultivating critical thinking, analytical skills, communication skill, which are all essential to working in advertising). So my question is, if in the future I want to come back to the US on an H1B visa, would that be possible? Is this issue with my major going to haunt me for at least 12 years (as in 3 years of working experience equal 1 year of college education)? Given that I do want to stay in the advertising industry, what are my options to solve this issue? Would getting an MBA with a marketing focus solve this?
PS: I understand another way to come back to the US by employment is via L1 visa. However, the prerequisite would be that I was already working in that company's overseas office, correct? So, if I received an offer from a company in the US without having worked in one of its overseas branch, I would still have to apply an H1B, correct?

I see people not supporting the CIR which was suppose to be a pro Immigration bill, no matter which part of the society it was supporting. My question is Are you guys out here a Pro or an anti immigration forum?

If you knew the difference between Legal and Illegal immigration, and had you read the CIR bill and all amendments then you would not ask this question. Please do some homework before asking such questions.

My mom's a Gynecologist. She got her MBBS and MS from India in 1978. She has been working in India since then.
How can she start practicing in the United States? I have absolutely NO idea. I have heard about the USMLE Exam, but is it necessary for a person with 25+ years of experience? Will she have to do her medical-residency AGAIN?
Please advise.
Yes, I guess it is absolutely necessary to pass the different stages of USMLE and then do residency and based on what speciality one gets in to,irrespective of what background is. Usually OB/Gyn takes upto 5-6 yrs..down the lane. Please google up USMLE and medical practice in US, you will find more answers.

I agree that India is booming up despite these corrupted politicians. But until the politics goes to the hands of real patriots, the growth rate will be less and may even turn back to poverty again and the politicians family will become the richest persons in Asia. This should change first then we can think about that option.:confused:

We are in a peculiar situation regarding our FP. Did you take your FP taken? If so, did you get your file updated sometime after FP was completed? When you gave FP the last time, do you whether they had processed it before the approval?
We had to postpone our 2nd FP in May and gave our prints only in the end of June. I heard that such cases get into delays or problems. The first time over, our FPs were cleared in a week.

I just noticed in I-765 that if you are applying for EAD renewal then they need you to send your current Employment authorization document! Did anyone that applied for EAD renewal send their EAD card with their application. I'm concerned because if one is working on EAD and needs to send this document 120 days prior for the renewal process and does not get the new EAD for couple months, what proof does one have on work authorization?
I dont want to apply online as I dont want to go for biometrics (FP) again for EAD!

I was told if you have valid stamping you do not need get new stamping even if you changed the employer. All you need is to give the new approval notice at the POE.
am I missing something here.
If one has I-797 notice without new I-94, he/she should get new H1 visa stamp.

The vermont service center says 2 months for h1b extensions, mine has been pending for 75 days, so i called the uscis today and guess what they told me, the processing times have been updated on teh web site but it is very difficult for us to follow them, i would suggest you wait for 90 days and see if there is any change in your online status if not call me back.
Then why do these people keep updating monthly processing dates if they cannot stick to their words.
I believe the processing times are just a gimmick to show progress to press....:mad:

I work in Health Insurance domain so if you need help in understanding the technical terms, may be I can help.
Kaiser Permanente mght be a good option if you are buying at individual level. I am not sure if they provide services in TN but if they do, then I would go for it. It is a HMO plan but KP hospitals provide reasonably good services at reasonable price in California.
