Microsoft is rock solid?
Let's see, as a 15 year IT worker who has supported many MS environments, I have been yanked out of bed at 2am 3 times because "new" viruses that the Anti-Virus software didn't even know about, had brought down hundreds of machines on the network, and had even brought down routers and switches.
I think the $100,000 we might spend on IPS/IDS blades for all the core switches to analyze the traffic coming from Windows machines might be better spent if we just put Macs in the network and maybe stick a free Snort box in there as an after thought.
Companies spend millions just keeping their Windows machines in line -thank about it. MS has never been serious about security.
+1 At least you were yanked of bed for legit reasons and not exchange servers going down for no reason...I should say no hardware reason....MS couldn't even figure out the issue :/ Thankfully I don't work there anymore so someone else gets to have the fun :P
As for MS not being serious about security I completely agree. The mere fact that a malware can make its files invisible to the whole OS including command prompt enrages me, especially when I plug the infected drive into a linux or mac machine and can manually see and delete said file.

LaTex is just about my favourite free app for producing professional looking technical documents. I use the front end TeXShop (http://www.uoregon.edu/~koch/texshop/texshop.html).

Man, Mac OS looked horrible back then. Even below 10.4:eek:

This is not an option in Outlook for Mac. You can set Outlook to "Work Offline" mode under Outlook in the Menu bar. this will allow you to hit "send" and the message will go to the Outbox but not connect until you are toggle "Work Offline" .

Who needs a phone with a touch screen? Unless Apple wants to only sell a $500+ phone which most people would not throw down the cash for, this will most likely never happen.
Just imagine what the cost of one of these screens would cost, and how much it would cost to get replaced if it broke.

If you have logic it has a tuner plugin. Garage band might, if not you could use google and find a 3rd party one, I'm sure there would be a free one out there.

Hi,
I am using win7 through bootcamp, but i can't use the two fingers-right click on the track pad and also the fn key doesn't work.
Does anyone here have any idea why i can't use them ?

WRONG! FCP is definitely not the industry standard. It gained a lot of traction in market share from Avid but has since regressed its gains over the last several years.I agree even though I loathe Avid and its Technical support :P
Were stuck with Avid and we do what we can without their support.
We also use FCP but presently at a lower stage in the production pipeline.
However, our RED One delivery is trickling in (worse delivery ever) and now in the process of testing a the Red Rocket in a Mac Pro loaded with FCP3.
Hope it all goes well.

Hey,
I have noticed my iphone 4 gets hot after recording for more than 2 mins, and it also heats up when taking pictures. However, it only heats up towards the right of the front speaker (it heats up on the front top right corner) on the phone. It heats up on the front, where the camera is situated directly beneath it. It is not unbearably hot. Anyone else have this problem? Is this normal?

If you are going to use Wiki, at least get some uptodate figures.
Apple are putting in $25bn quarters, so I reckon we can predict a close on to $100bn turnover for the 2011/2012 year. Which isn't far off the 2009 figure for Samsung Electronics at $117bn turnover.
As for the 2-3 times - then you are comparing the whole of Samsung Group, which I'm sure you said that you weren't comparing. But even if we were comparing the whole group, it's $100bn vs $175bn. So not 2-3 times. Maybe 3 times if you are comparing 2009 - which again is slightly boring since Apple's financial muscle has increased hugely in the last 18-24 months.
At best, you were being disingenius when you said "2-3" times for the electronics group, (wiki shows $65bn vs $117bn), when 65 is clearly more than half of 117. As you have trouble with maths, 65*2 is 130. And, taking no chances, 117 is less than 130.
So quite where your "2-3" comes from I have no idea.
Maybe as a hater your maths are failing you? Who knows. ;)

My new 15.2" PowerBook G4 867MHz machine. I sold my G3 500 and got this one. Its the last one to boot OS 9 and the slowest Mac to boot 10.5 natively without any fiddling
