Let us know what they say after you explain to them why you bother owning Apple products, if you don't like them?
May I also suggest you throw your Apple products in the trash and buy the better alternatives you always proclaim there are?
PS: Don't hold it against them, if they use the ipad2 to take their notes:-)

When the hell is Apple going to seed leopard to us select developers? Also an update of the WWDC videos would be nice. It sucks when you get hospitalized and can't recover in TIME to go to WWDC.
Why are you asking here? Why not call Apple developer relations and ask them?
It annoys me that I pay for this treatment, yet Microsoft is more than happy to release all kinds of pre beta stuff to me just for signing up as a developer.
Microsoft is also more than happy to charge through the teeth for decent developer tools too.

OpenCL was designed so software could use the processing power of the graphics card/chip to aid the CPU to perform calculations in a way that is not dependent on sending the results to video. In gaming, however, the CPU is enough to run the back-end of the game and the GPU is mainly used to display the image rather than help the CPU in processing the game's engine. Hence OpenCL should not make that much different (perhaps a few FPS but not so much as to make the 3000 better than the 320).
Is OpenCL akin to NVIDIA's PhysX as well as their CUDA? If so then perhaps it can help with the physics engines in some high end games (GTA IV etc comes to mind) I guess?
The 320M has OpenCL. CUDA is assembler-like, while OpenCL is C-like. They are general purpose compute engines. It's not just about games.
Intel does not have real OpenCL yet.

Excuse me, I was talking about consumer pickup trucks, not large16+ Ton HD shipping trucks.
well you said "large" trucks ;)
the problem with pick up market is that the US manufacturers still have problems of selling theirs worldwide in emerging markets opposed to toyota etc.
and in europe and japan there simply is not much of demand for them apart of the novelty factor
edit: one of the problems of the US car industry sometimes is the thinking of a "this years model" which from time to time surfaces again and again, Perhaps not so much with the companies but with consumers.

I doubt very much Macbook is getting updates at the same time Pro Models do. Thats not how Apple operates. First the pro models will be updated then that tech will show up months later in Macbook with some crippling like in the Gpu.
Actually, it wouldn't be the first time if Apple decides to update the MacBook and MacBook Pro together. They have done a full update with laptops before, though I will agree that I remember it being not too common.

I think it was Japan that taxed cars based on the engine displacement - I believe that would be worth considering here. For anyone who "needs" a big engine - and 98% of you who claim you do - actually do not. But for those who insist - should have a commercial-type registration. (like we currently do with large work vehicles) That said - we were lax, stupid or I don't know what - but allowed 4 ton vehicles to be called passenger cars, and now every 90 pound soccer mom drives a Superduty pickup because it makes them feel safe...
Here in the UK the amount of tax is based upon the CO2 emissions from a car, so larger engines generally incur a higher penalty. However, if you are insistent on buying a large expensive 4x4 for example, I don't think the amount of tax is really going to put you off.
I pay 125 per year for a 2.0 litre TDI

Frequently, I find the modem also has nothing set. Changing to any known DNS server speeds things up. You probably already did this years ago, you are a geek, no?
I agree, I never said anything about Google DNS or to not include some thought in the process. What I said is most people have a mess that should be addressed. Whenever I see, "internet is slow", I think, "check your DNS".
True, I just used Google as an example.
Even if the modem has nothing set, it is receiving it's settings via DHCP from the ISP. If DNS truly weren't set at all....there would be no DNS resolution and no internet surfing. Just do an ipconfig/all at a command prompt (windows) to see the DNS server provided by your ISP.
Not just a geek, it's my job.

Random yet related question:
What do people recommend using to record basic voiceovers in iMovie and FCExpress? My high school students currently use ProTools and Mbox and it's just way too complicated to record a simple voiceover.
How about using itself FCExpress? I make TV material with FCPro and can record VOs directly and I think FCExpress is pretty similar in most areas. Correct me if I am wrong ...

Exactly. MacBooks appeared with no fanfare at all.

A mistake? Unless I'm mistaken, when the 40GB PS3 was released, it was $399, and the 80GB version was $499. At least, those were the normal prices when I bought my 40GB.
Well...it's wasn't a mistake it was given to me for free....but it was during those times that the PS3 was the main deal and people rioted and fought and they were several people who were victims of theft when it came out.:D

Can the G4 beat the Pentium 5? You are probably scratching your heads on this one. Yep, the Pentium 5 is very real, and it is coming soon. 2nd quarter of the Pentium 5 debuting at 3.2GHZ is going to come out. It will have 100 million transistors on it and it will be manufactured at .09 microns. Also, here is the doozy, it will have 1 mb of L2 on die cache, and it will support 333mhz bus speeds, with the addition of DDR, that is a possible 667mhz bus speeds. By the way, if you were wondering, the Pentium 4 has 42 million transistors.
Now, for the G4: I am not sure how many transistors the G4 has, but I imagine it is way less then 100 million, or even 42 million, considering the P4 came out after the G4. Anyway, the cache on the G4 is higher on the high-end, 2mb of cache. But: the speed: 1.25Ghz? Can that really stand up to a P5 with 333mhz bus, and 3.2Ghz clock speeds? My opinion: most likely not.
Let's be honest, the P4 basically can beat the G4 in most tasks today, so a new faster version of the P4, the P5 can easily beat the G4, most likely in 95-99% of all tasks.
Ok, we have established that the G4 is, well, to slow against the P5, even though we don't know about it yet, I imagine it will be. Well, Apple just pulled the plug on OS 9 for January, what could this mean? I am not sure, only Steve knows. But Apple better come out with something that can at least compete with the Pentium 5, and it better come soon. I would not be surprised if Apple comes out with the G5 in January, just to say they were the first to have a generation 5 possessor, but I could be wrong.
Ok, I made my case, now, what do you guys think? By the way: I got this information about the Pentium 5 from eWeek, so it is reputable.

Is there a catch to this deal? Do you have to buy a MiFi and sign up for some sort of data plan?
$299 is ridiculously tempting.
Nope, no catch. I just called the store down the street from me and it is $299 no catch for the 16gb. She did mention some service plan but said I just wanted the iPad and she said that is fine.
Thanks for letting me know.

Who's your provider ? I'm in the NL and never heard of those speeds. It must be a niche fiber offer and certainly not widespread in the country !
Why Hong Kong? I live in The Netherlands and got a 120Mbit/s download.
If the server is willing, I can download at 14MByte/s max.

Canada was well aware of who they were voting for. It's not like the conservatives are a new party gaining power. Harper has been there for a while. All the small businesses I know in my area voted conservative because they knew the liberals and NDP were going to attempt gutting them.

I don't buy it; Apple offers the Apple TV for $99 which provides AirPlay. I don't think they'll license out the software; Apple has too many negative experiences with licensing out software...
