Perhaps you should try removing the file com.apple.airport.preferences.plist from the folder you find it in. Perhaps some of the preferences are corrupt.
Also, I'd check to make sure the antenna is plugged in correctly. :)

By the way, I hate saying this but it's pathetic how my iPhone can run video better than my G4. :(
The iphone has h.264 decoding hardware in it so it hardly even uses the CPU to play video. That is why it plays so much better. Overall a high end G4 tower would have a lot more capability than an iphone.
Hardware can only be as good as the software it's running after all.

I run torchlight just fine on my 4 year old MBP... but that game was designed for a netbook ;)
I remember when L4D came out, and my (at the time 2 year old MBP I believe) only met the minimum requirements... The general rule of thumb is, if you're a PC gamer, you keep a PC to game on, or you stop gaming.

How about 1080p movies in full screen mode? Does it look bad? Do you guys prefer watching it through a window at 1080p?
1080p, or even 720p should be fine. Moving picture is different because you don't concentrate in small details but try to read text in Safari at 1920x1080 and it will look pixel-ish, something that you don't want.

My favorite is NoLock. I do not have to swipe to turn my ipad or iphone on. VERY cool. To me, this one app is the single main reason to JB.

I purchased the 2011 13'' MBP about 6 weeks ago (my first Mac laptop btw:cool:) and I am planning to also get an iPad by September. I used my friend's and it is just... well, a really good experience. I plan to use the laptop for work & school and I'll use the iPad for general web browsing, books/news/magazines, entertainment (iTunes, Netflix, games), etc.. I figure it should extend the life of my MBP as well because I expect to use it less once I get an iPad.

If it does what you need it to, and does it to your liking, I don't think there is any reason to upgrade.
+1. Better off waiting until 2012 for the redesign if all you do on the computer you have now is basic use.

Last night I was in Walmart picking up Super Paper Mario and the guy working there says, "So you got one of those Wii things, huh?." I replied, "Yeah, do you have one yet." iPhone. You have a 13" MBP so I think it goes better with a iPhone since that is something you can put in your pocket and take anywhere.
I just picked up my first smart phone, the iPhone 3Gs for only $49 and it is the single coolest gadget I ever had in my life (over 50 years). Since I upgraded my AT&T service I get to get my iPhone I am entitled to another phone upgrade within 12 months (else it would be 18 months). My thinking was that I need to get to know my iphone and in a year I would be eligible to get a iPhone 5. My $49 3GS is fine and I don't miss the iphone 4 features but I am hoping that the iPhone 5 is both 4" screen and will work on AT&T with 4G for faster.... Those two phone upgrades was useful and helped me opt out of a iPhone 4 last month.

Another good keyboard shortcut is command(apple)+tab to shuffle through open apps.
Plus check out system preferences/keyboard & mouse/keyboard shortcuts. :)
