I travelled to India first time after coming to USA. The airline people did not take my I94 from me. I was not aware if I had to turn it in. I came back and got another I94. Now what do I do with my old I94? My 140/485 is in progress.

No worries. I have travelled through Frankfort with AP and had no issues. In fact, an officer did ask me for my US visa and i showed him the AP document. Seems to me that frankfort officials do understand the AP document.

I was thinking more along the lines of transfering from US Public education school system to either ICSE, CBSE or Maharashtra Sate Board.
Upto what standard would it be relatively eay for a child to adapt and integrate into the Indian system ?

I think your attorney and HR are winking at each other. Looks like this is a cheapo lawyer. Tell them that you will file H1 extension only if they apply I-140 by premium or else you will go back to India. If you are in consulting and a revenue generating employee this is the best approach. Your employer will be a FOOL not to take you seriously. Also give them a few examples of people who got 3 year extension and ask why not for you?

If your husband is working for one of the infamous desi outfits where bench means no salary, then I'd suggest that you avoid travelling since you may be asked to produce a paystub on return.
OTOH, if your husband is working for a legitimate consulting company that pays him even when he is not billable to a client, then you have nothing to fear about.

I would say it is still a good sign as it tells that someone is at least looking at your case instead of your case being in a basement in a box.
I had this discussion with my lawyer. This lawywer has been touch with USCIS very closely and understand the process and how the system works (to the best possible for an outsider) and here is what has to say about LUD.

Most I-485 will be adjudicated without any LUD at all. This is an because even today it is the physical file that is being delivered to an IO. IO will not touch the system if there had been no issue or no infomation to update.
If one is getting LUDs on any application, it most likely implies that some information is being updated. LUD most likely are for some reasons.
The process of adjudicating a 485 is multi step with many department involved. When the file reaches an IO for the decision , it is expected to be complete in every respect. If IO has any follow up question or any comments, she would then enter in the system that we se as LUD.
Thus, LUD in most cases ( and not all), if at all, is a potential indication of further delay..

i have not come across any success stories of USCIS to CP move.
Also, i am not sure if the company must keep an empty chair for you..till you complete the CP process.
I was told that as long as the firm can give a letter stating that the job will be offered once you get ur GC..that should be good enough.

I agree, international schools mirror US/UK formats and the transition is easier. My neighbor returned with an 8 year old kid. She had problems with the second language (hindi in her school, tutions helped a bit) she was fine with the rest. The parents had planned in advance, be prepared for fact that even if your child is among the best here, he/she will be average there, the learning standards are very high in good schools. BTW in india children are already exposed to writing in the second language from KG
If you contact the school they will email you a list of academic standards for each class, you can go through the list and spend some time working on your childs weak spots (if you want a URL for such a list let me know or search for DPS pune or any other well known school). Its different there, but there is more freedom and children enjoy it more (there will be pressures, related to mixing with children and language, but children are more adaptable than us.). Hi randlesl, welcome to Dphoto! In addition to the above, some cameras are just calibrated to underexpose. My D60 did that consistently. I think I shot everything at +2/3 exposure comp. Some lenses may contribute to that as well. To test that, try taking a shot outdoors in good light using the same target with both lens set to 70mm and f/5.6. If they come out looking alike, all is well. If the 28-80 comes out darker, experiment to see how much extra you need to dial in with that lens to get it looking like the other. Also try a few shots with the 28-80 lens on a tripod, or other sturdy rest. If the images come out sharp, then the blur is like what I get ... operator error. If they are still blurry, then the problem may be with that lens. From what you said, though, and as jliechty suggested, it may be from trying to follow moving targets in low light with a shutter speed that can't freeze the action.

2- during this time ( after applying and before getting the result) can I apply for H1-B transfer?

To my best knowledge the PD is set at the I-140 stage. As a matter of fact, there's a field in the administrative part of that form where the PD is stated. Short of saying that it wouldn't be possible to claim an earlier PD at the I-485 stage I would assume that your lawyer should jump much more loops to get you an earlier PD then.

Although I filed the Labor Certification Application (regular filing) in mid 2004, I couldn�t apply for I-485 in July/Aug 2007 because my LC was still pending at that time. Later in 2007 I got the Labor Certification and in 2009 I received the I-140 approval.
While may case was stuck in a DOL backlog elimination center, many people who started their permanent residency process in 2005, 2006 and 2007 were able to take advantage of the I-485 filing window because of RIR and PERM filings.
I am wondering if I could request USCIS to extend to me the same EAD Card benefit that applicants with a later priority date are enjoying. Is it something I can appeal to an immigration board or to an immigration court? I have been working in H1B since 1999. Would 11 years in H1B (and 3 years in F1 prior to that) carry any humanitarian consideration in a court of appeal?
Could someone please advice?

Ask them what the exact restriction is. It could be something as simple as needing a copy of your driver's license.

[I apologize for starting a non-immigration related thread on this personal question.] I am trying to quickly book a US-India Lufthansa flight via Frankfurt for June travel, and the one I am looking at gives me 2-hr stopover (+30mins for boarding) at FRA in between connections, in the same terminal, on the return leg of the trip. My question to those of you who recently traveled via FRA is whether 2-hr is long enough to make the connection. I haven't had such a trip in a while, and not up-to-date with any additional (passport/immigration) verification procedure at this airport. I do know FRA does not require a transit visa.

During the stage of 485 in how much details they look your your current status. In what all things they look except last 3-6 pay stubs and W2s.

1. Dose any one has experience that they have asked for the details for the H1B LCA to verify the satus during the stage of 485(like your location specified in LCA). (-not talking about LC).
2. Another good question. If your LCA filed with the petition was for the some location of California. Now if you relocated to NY. Now you worked in NY for a year and now your W-2 will have the sate as the NY. IF you submit this W-2 at the 485 stage then they can easily figure out that your LCA was for some city of california and you are paying tax in the NY. Means in such cases they can easily find out that you are out of status. Don't they look into such details?

I was in a similar situation back in 2006. I got my visa stamping for my future H1-B but at the POE, the officer stamped my I-94 only till the end of current H1-B. But he mentioned that I can go to the nearby CBP office and get it changed once my current H1-B expires. And I did exactly the same. No issues.
