Yes, T-Mobile uses 2100 Mhz, which iPhone supports, but they also use 1700 Mhz, which no iPhone yet supports. You'd need both to use T-Mobile's 3G network.
It would be much easier to add the 1700 Mhz band than to create a CDMA iPhone, though I think both are likely.

Thank you- i was sitting here wondering why the hell anyone would think this was a negative development... and about to post something like what you did.
Same here. How can somebody rate this negative?
It's a development for the future and will make many other dongles obsolete over time.

But this discount is not directly to students. It is for institutional purchase I think. Did anyone get this discount through their school?

Anyone else think this is a little too public? And it's not a very comfortable place to sit having coffeeno matter how good the food is. I imagine a couple of billionaires could have found a more comfortable and more private place for coffee and a chat, unless they're being deliberately "public".
Is this how they squash a rumour in sily-con valley? Media says these two hate each other's guts. Be seen being nice to each other in public.
Of course.

Can't help thinking that if Eric Schmidt and Steve Jobs could split the difference on their weight, they'd both be better off. :D
This is getting silly, maybe he was at the cancer center for a checkup and that's it
Yes, this is perfectly possible.

"Because he's a pervert, son. Stop staring at his screen and keep watching how the American hero slaughters evil terrorists with his machine gun on your TV screen."
Technically, people were able to watch porn on their notebooks during a flight, and so far this hasn't been an issue, has it?
I flew with Virgin Atlantic once, and they have a great entertainment system where you could watch porn if you wanted. But it says you have to ask a stewardess to enable it for you (enter a code)... Might be a bit embarassing asking "Can you put the password in so I can watch big boobies 4 please?" :p

Just from my observation (I have no hard data or anything), it seems that at least 25% of new mac buyers are switchers. And from conversations I've heard around my office, I think that number will continue to grow. Apple is really turning heads with this transition to Intel. People like to know what they're getting in a machine (even if they don't really understand the components themselves) and Intel is a household name for the windows world. Good stuff. ;)

But I agree in theory that we can cut down greatly on how much we drive. And higher gas prices will do that(which is good, even if we don't make as much off taxes as you would if driving levels stay the same)
The new wave of urban living will help too. If people don't have driving as an option because of price, or have it less, interest in public transit but also walking and biking will increase due to natural market pressures. However, many towns and cities in the US will have a major infrastructural gap because they have so many roads that are not cyclist / pedestrian friendly. They will likely change due to economic pressure, but cities investing in walkability now will be well poised to grow when/if such a time comes.

I asked a girl (similar to your situation) for her number and she said, "What for?" LOL. :o
- Need to verify your age and marital status and check out your high school photo and credit rating online before I invest in a dinner and a movie
- National security reasons.
- Need to check the meter on your photocopier.
- Have a high return, surefire investment proposition on some vacation property I'd like to discuss with you.
- Identity theft.

In fact, DVD pricing is not the most important factor for Walmart and I suspect Target as well. Both companies employ sophisticated marketing techniques to draw customers into the store and get them to part with more money than they originally intended to spend. Brand-name promotions, item placements and even Walmart's "don't ask, don't tell" return policies are examples. The use of loss-leaders, selling products at a small loss, has proven to be one of the most powerful customer draws. DVDs are the numero-uno loss leader draw of most Walmarts, particularly those in the broad midsection of the country where it's often difficult to find a video rental store, much less a Tower, Borders or Virgin Atlantic store. I recently spent the summer in the Hill Country of Texas and became quite familiar with the Friday evening surge when customers would stream into a Walmart to pick up a DVD for the weekend and then decide to do a little additional shopping "seein' as they was there." I think the stores are rightfully fearful of the loss in foot traffic and the consequential loss of impulse purchases if movie downloads become popular. For the same reason, simply openning up an online store will not insulate them from losses since the profits accrued from DVD sales don't generally arise from the DVDs themselves, but from the additional shopping that is all but inevitable once you enter the store.

I'm glad I read some reviews- I was about to try the contact syncing. In retrospect, that was stupid to even consider. I have a lot of value in my address book- info collected over many years. Why would I (1) send all that data to Facebook (do they keep it? do we know?) and (2) let said 3rd party app have run of the house, updating/deleting any and all of my contacts?
Like I say, I almost did it. But it would have been stupid. I *might* have been saved my MobileMe since I'm usually notified before it updates a given percentage of all my data. But still- a risk I don't want to take.
You fully, and completely misunderstand how the app works.
Sorry for your ignorance.
FYI.. no contact info is added or deleted.
Only contact pictures are synced, and a link to the persons profile is added as a webpage link in your contacts.
NOTHING is deleted
NOTHING is overwritten (unless you want to overwrite existing pics) - that's an option you chose.
the data is sent to facebook in order to "match" contacts by both name and email address.
What facebook does with the data... I assume nothing. you assume they share it. I suppose that topic is open for debate

Garmin, a little late to the game aren't we?
As for downloading maps on-the-fly, bad decision. True, I went many years using Google Maps for directions without major problems, but there definitely were some major headaches along the way. I can remember critical times when the I would be staring at a blue dot amongst a sea of gray. I mean, I still alive, so it couldn't have caused much trouble, right?

Also, oopsie hardware releases aside, how would a "supposedly" early software build of iOS5 end up in the prototype phone of some guy in South East Asia? Hardware production is outsourced to Asia, yes, but software would be held pretty damn closely. Maybe I'm wrong?
BS- IMHO this is a shamster.
(Bold added for reference.)
Read the article title again genius.

I am new here to the forum and was wondering if anyone could advise why only some of my contacts have matched accross?
Is it due to the fact that some of my numbers start +44 in my phonebook and they may start 07.... in facebook??
not sure what credentials it uses to compare and match the different phonebooks i.e name, number ect.
anyone know? :D

don't ask me! ask the EU about it. i don't make the regulations. but i can tell you this, they want a standard port for charging purposes and data transfer, so that you have to deal with fewer cables. it's not a bad idea, if you think about it.It's a bad idea for Apple when they can't charge you $99 for a 50 cent piece of plastic and copper.

Anyone else thinks that Apple is readying the merger between iOS and MacOSX, at last?
I certainly hope not. I hate this merging of a phone OS with a real one. If that really happens (and I doubt it will anytime soon) I would jump back to Windows land and enjoy my new Apple gadgets for recreation.

Wow.
I wonder if you could hack a 3G microcell to do this entirely in software.
