Notice Steve is the only guy without wine?
Why would you say that unless you're trying to get people stirred up? They all appear to be drinking water (which seems odd and rather sobering)!

That's why you should never boast about how right you are in a public forum...someone is bound to correct you as in the case in Big Endian vs Little Endian.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
I have Office 2011 for Mac and Office 2010 for Windows which I run in VMWare Fusion (got both for $9.95 each through Microsoft's Home Use Program). I much prefer Excel 2010 in Windows but Word 2011 and PowerPoint 2011 for Mac are fine.

5 years ago Apple was pushing open standards with no licensing require (ie, zeroconf) and no one would buy in. Now they offer a standard with a fraction of the capability and charge for it and everyone wants it.

I have a few questions, as I will be in London all day and want to be one of the first 500 (i.e. T-Shirt time :D):
1. Do you there will be a long queue?
2. What time should I get there to make sure I'm one of the first?
Thanks

. You would have to believe that AT&T is willing to lose all the online sales from the iPhone on Christmas to stop some thieves.
They wouldn't lose ALL online sales, just the ones from certain zip codes where it believes fraud is high.

I thought about the Bose/app combo, but some of the stations I like to listen to don't stream online... which means the app route won't work. <sigh>

Here we go kids!! Expect lot's of grandstanding and some real knee jerk legislation cause this IS the year to gear up for the big election. I wish someone would inform people that it's their responsibility to be informed consumers AND parents. My kid racked up $380 in cell downloads in one month. I didn't need my senator to step in. I took away her phone for a month, blocked her ability to purchase ANYTHING on it, and worked out the bill with my provider (AT&T) who practically wiped it all away. This is just going to burden us with more laws and subsequently, more taxes in the form of direct taxation of products, indirect taxes by way of price hikes due to a rise in business tax, or BOTH.
Wow some semi-competent parenting here quality bravo that's something America needs more widespread these days, well at least around here. Break your iPhone? No problem dady's an Anesthesiologist mom's a lawyer just by you a new one! Crash your birthday gift an Audi S4 into a telephone pole while screwing around? No problem momy's best friends with the town judge! (yes true stories). Ranting aside this is so rediculous. This would be like if the FCC was called in to monitor how files are transfered around my home network, aka something pity that should be left to these things we call parents. BTW putting a credit card into a kids iPhone is the dumbest idea in the world. You can teach them the value of a dollar if instead you give them an iTunes card and tell them its the only one there getting for X amount of time.

I asked a girl (similar to your situation) for her number and she said, "What for?" LOL. :o
- Need to verify your age and marital status and check out your high school photo and credit rating online before I invest in a dinner and a movie
- National security reasons.
- Need to check the meter on your photocopier.
- Have a high return, surefire investment proposition on some vacation property I'd like to discuss with you.
- Identity theft.

For the specific Mac models (like the oogles of PowerMac revisions), would it be wise to just link directly to AppleSpec instead of making our own? We already have [[PowerMac]] with links to [[PowerMac_G4]] which then links to [[PowerMac_specificModel]]. Maybe the links on the PowerMac_G4 page should be to the AppleSpec PDFs for those models?
What if apple takes that information down?
I would think it would be good to make our own local DB of information so we don't need to rely on others for information.

Ditto. Esp since Apple can't be bothered to support my camera. Just downloaded the latest LR beta.

I would say the app has some potential but needs a lot of work. No need to name all the issues since they are obviously already mentioned in the thread.
I encountered a lot of "WTF?"-style behavior quirks with Garmin myself. It does the job, but the deal-breaker for me is that the volume slider in settings sets both your device volume, and the speech volume. So you either deal with quiet music, or very loud instruction if you are using your phone to also play music.
It handles drop-outs of network fine, but requires you to be on the network to get a route planned, and you can't pre-plan a route. So if you are say, planning a camping trip, you will only get GPS direction one way if the camp site is out of cell service (like mine usually are).

As much as I would like to have .Mac and be able to sync my data, I still can't justify $99 for 1gb of web storage. Hopefully the Apple/Google alliance has some impact regarding the pricing of Apple's web services.

Only thing worse than patent lawyers are people dissing the area, given that they know neither a) the law, nor b) the specific patent being dicussed.

So how am I supposed to take this news?

I keep looking at the WWDC '11 image with the rows of applications like one of those Magic Eye images that were big back in the 90's.
I could never see the damn images then, so I'm of no use in this hunt, but perhaps better trained Magic Eye viewers are out there...

According to reports, Apple has already provided an update to their Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard Preview that was distributed to developers at WWDC 2006. The update provides few details on the improvements provided:
The 46.4MB release is simply entitled "Leopard Developer Preview Update 1.0" and updates Build 9A241 to Build 9A241e.
Apple demonstrated (http://www.apple.com/macosx/leopard/) Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard at WWDC, revealing some of the features that are expected. Mac OS X 10.5 is not expected to be released until Spring of 2007.Any word on the Super Secret Leopard Features???

I don't buy it. What a nightmare that would be if just touching that area of the iPod took you back to the home screen. (Even the MacBook trackpads require a physical 'click' in order to register.) This would be a usability disaster.
I agree. When I'm holding my iPod horizontally, I usually always rest my thumb over home button.
