Hi!
I need some advice on a good guide to selecting a font to go with logos or illustrations pleeease :) ...derickm's link in Post No. 5 is a gross simplification of the steps required to select the typeface(s) used in a logo. You don't give a hint what the logo is for. It could be a product, business, school, church, service, anything .... Whatever it is, its logo says everything about it in a glance. Not only does the logo for a funeral home require different typefaces than a burger joint, but also a five-year-old burger joint requires different typefaces than a 60 year-old burger joint. Many concerns use original custom typefaces in their logos. Think Coca Cola, General Electric, Ford, Burger King.
Only persons who are personally familiar with what the logo will be used for have a clue about the proper typefaces(s) to be used in it.

I don't know how accurate this is, I'm not saying that its upscaling the DVDs but I am getting 1080p thru component. My TV will show me the resolution at the press of a button and when it changes. The Xbox is 1080p and when I place a DVD in the drive and play it, it does not (any longer) change down to 480p.
Could be changed. There was a Dashboard update that changed what resolutions were available with VGA cables, so they may have changed it. That said, the issue at hand is the DVD Consortium's rules on upscaling. They typically don't allow it over component... most upscaling players HAVE to use HDMI. It's a stupid rule, seeing as you can rip DVDs with complete impunity and then software scale them to any resolution you want (and they MUST know that), and it doesn't effect anything, but that's the general rule.
MS may have a special deal with them though, so who knows.

assuming the express is of the newer "N" kind, it needs to be configured to extend the network created by the TC.
also make sure the TC is set to allow this network to be extended.

You guys are fast!
Cool. So far I have just been right clicking "set as desktop" off the images themselves. I haven't added any folder to the desktop/wallpaper preferences pane - is this why my wallpaper last night didn't "stick" after shutting down? It went back to the default wallpaper this morning when I turned it on.
Sorry, this is my 1st apple ever and I just got it 2 days ago :(
So far it's been very intuitive and easy to learn and convert from windows though!

But if I was on the same network as you, you very well might show up in the finder side bar account name and all. For people who file sharing is enabled this is a huge flaw.
Why do you think that's such a huge bug? Do you know the account name on my computer? I don't know yours, either. Not only that, you would have to share your computer's files (something you have to do yourself) then open port 548 for the world to see through your router.

Have to agree with others about the vaguely disturbing elements to the avatar. I'm glad you developed the avatar, if only so that you brought this singer to my attention, but there IS something unnerving about that apple and her eye.....

no read what I was saying. I am not going to go with the standard MS is coping Apple crap that will be coming flying soon.
Hell Apple coping the flash game lay out more proves that the simple lay out used is kind of a standard long before Apple used it. It was shutting down the standard argument MS is coping.
BTW I would not even say Apple is really copy any one. It is just a simple layout and lets face it there are only so many ways to do that layout.
So flash games call themselves the flash App Store before?
Oh wait, Flash games are basically copying the Mac OS icons and grids.

I need to buy a monitor for a powerbook and saw a few companies selling new, in the box 17" Apple Studio Displays online. The price is about $450. I have always loved the look of that monitor, but am wondering how well they stack up with today's monitors. In addition, I believe for the same price I could get 19" - so I am torn. Any advice?
Fantastic monitor. I've used one at school several times at it continually surprises me.

Try resetting the PRAM
1. Shut down the computer.
2. Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
3. Turn on the computer.
4. Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.
5. Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
6. Release the keys.
On a side note. You should never install a developer preview as your primary OS.
thank you soo much dude!!
oh, will this erase anything?
and do u no how i can get snow leopard back?

I was a Mac user for the first several years of my computing life. Then I purchased a G3 Wallstreet Powerbook. I liked it, but my wife got a Toshiba Satellite, it seemed(at the time) much faster, and was about half the price. Needless to say that I then converted to the dark side of the force...
It wasn't until I got a new job that I begin to shake off years of un-faithfulness. I had even tried to bring down an empire by convincing our CEO that we needed to switch from MYOB to QuickBooks so that he had to purchase PC's. Then I was given the gift of a G4 400 Mhz machine with OS X. I began to see the error of my ways, and within days had gone cold turkey with the PC...except my one reminder of the drunken stupor...we still have QuickBooks.
As soon as they figure out a solution for multiple users on the Mac side we will fully convert back.
That's my humble story.

More than likely if I were to take it to the Apple store I'd have restored by then...which hopefully would alleviate the problem at that point.
My main point is, if I have no recourse in my current jailbroken state, what options are the best to restore yet not have to upgrade my firmware (aka losing the chance to jailbreak untethered)

trim is only supported on SSD's that you buy from apple, and only recently.
As the other poster said, there haven't been problems with people running 3rd party SSD's w/o trim enabled. In fact some users have reported problems with their drives after enabling trim support.
If you really feel you must have it, search the boards, there is a tutorial here on how to enable it through some simple command lines.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe SSD's with the Sandforce controller such as the Vertex 3 don't need TRIM as the controller takes care of this function.

You can upgrade the RAM to a maximum of 1.5 GB on later 12" PBs and 1.25 GB on earlier ones, using a 1 GB PC2700 RAM stick.
The hard drive can also be upgraded to (I think) any capacity IDE/P-ATA 2.5" laptop drive.
I don't know of any processor upgrades; you might check Sonnet's website to see if they have any.
Also, video editing and encoding on a G4 is not quite what I'd call "less intensive" use--it can do it, but it'll be slow.
And depending on the processor, Leopard will be OK--the faster the CPU, the better. Leopard on a 867 MHz G4 12" could be painful, though . . .

You can install Snow Leopard client from a USB stick. You can google for instructions on how to prepare a USB stick.
A clean install of Snow Leopard would be ideal unless you're moving from an old Mac and would rather not setup and configure everything again.
Or Do what I am thinking of doing after the next Mini refresh, just buy an external USB CD/DVD for $30

I have 3 questions
1. at the Tiger release did everyone get scratch off cards?
2. ^^ Did everyone receive the 10% discount along with the scratch cards?
3.If I were to buy an iMac that night with the 10% discount can i get that on top of my education discount?

Think summer, late summer perhaps, according to Nikon rumor sites. It ought to be really good, really expensive. Look at the price of new FF-capable lenses.
I'll bet it is a big step up from what is out there now. It really has to be because the new DX cameras are very capable and today's FF cameras only offer improvements over them in limited situations.
I'm waiting for a really good EVIL cameral myself.

Go with the 5th Gen Nano[/B]
If you..
- want superior battery life
- want superior capacity
- hard drive fragility isn't a issue for you
- interested in holding video (16GB nano isn't going to do much for holding video)
- don't mind the larger form factor (some prefer it, fits much more comfortably in hand for me in comparison to the nano)
Go with the classic
Very well put, and I agree with your conclusion. To the OP, my recommendation also would be to go for the classic.
Cheers

doesnt justify the fact that I did multiple other tests throughout the day and realized the temperatures were wrong. Ive had 2 overheating issues after 20 minutes of play and found my temperatures reading at 102-105 degrees celcius before shutting down. Only having the game and windows open doing my tests.
I've even tried using a friends laptop cooler but that doesn't really do much either
If you think you have a problem take it to the Apple Store and possibly get another MBP. Why would you want to lose your warranty?????

Ok cheers guys for that, so is it worth it for being a memory stick and a iPod?
So what does the "i" in imac and iPod stand for and the "e" in eMac???
The shuffle is EXCELLENT as a dual use gadget.
The "i" in iMac originally stood for internet...the first iMacs were touted as the simplest, quickest way to get online.
The "e" is for education, as the eMacs were originally only available to schools but consumer interest convinced Apple to offer them to everyone.
The "i" doesn't really stand for internet anymore, it's simply what Apple uses to differentiate their consumer and professional lines.
