I have no clue what he did to say he'd get a "WTF" from Aplle but good going anyway!
He made jailbreak possible when they thought they closed it...yet again...so there's a WTF moment.

Hi, I am currently deciding which 27" imac to get. With student discount the i5 3.1GHz would be 1.670,76 euro. For 1.846,88 (176 euro more) I could get the i7. I read that only the i7 has hyperthreading. Could someone explain in layman's terms what that means? Would this only give an advantage when using specialized applications that are optimized for quad-core use, or does hyperthreading also increase performance on applications that are not made for multi-core use?
Also, if I choose not to get the i7. Would it make more sense to go with the cheaper 2.7GHz i5 because of the higher turbo-boost which brings the performance closer to the 3.1 i5. I'm probably not gonna play much games, so the 512MB should be enough for me, but maybe for future-proofing/resale-value it would be wiser to get the 1GB?
Any info/advice would be appreciated :)

ahahah yah i know im late :D Its pretty rad though. For a 5 year old game, I am way impressed. Im only level 2, a sorcerer, and I am on my second side quest. I just made these villagers who were invisible, visible again. Way fun. I like it, and this is why I love rpg's. The world is indeed vast.
Okay, so on a side note, does anyone know if there is going to be another Elder scrolls game on 360 any time soon?

I' spent most of the weekend editing 16-bit 6MP images in Photoshop CS on my mini, and while it was a little slow when saving and duplicating layers it was still more than adequate. I've got the 1.42GHz mini with 1GB of RAM.
I agree a PM is more suitable and reckon I'll buy one within 12 months but as a cheaper alternative the Mini makes a great stop-gap.

I have a late 2009? 13" unibody MBP with a 500GB disk.
I work in science with analysis of large data sets so I need a lot of storage to keep all my data. However, I would love to have a relatively small SSD to run all my software and the data I am immediately working on. Please don't get mad, I've tried to look up other optibay threads but they dont' really touch on these issues or they are outdated.
1- Is it worth doing an SSD optibay upgrade? I figure it will cost me around 350 bucks, which is a almost a 3rd of an Air. Thoughts?
2-Which SSD should I get? its been a while since i've followed computer hardware. I want best speed possible without going into top tier pricing. Ideally I'd like to spend less than 300 on the SSD. I need enough room to put the OS and several programs and maybe 50 gigs of data. How big should it be? which one should I get.
3- How do I handle the installation? I'm not sure how to direct the OS to only put files on the SSD? Also how to I make programs put files only in the SSD.
I do know how to put media on the HDD. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think the best strategy would be to put most important files in the SSD so as to leave the spinning disk inactive as much as possible.
4-Anything else I should know?
Here are the things i'm considering to buy
Bay for HDD in optical slot- http://www.newmodeus.com/shop/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_27&products_id=259
external optical enclosure- http://www.maxupgrades.com/istore/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_ID=186&ParentCat=348

ok so i tried the stuff
wasnt sure what the "re pairing" was, i was guess it was having it connected to the unit and restarting etc...
none of that worked.
i then decided to try to downgrade to 3.1.2 and that doesnt work either.
i am not working with a jailbroken ipod.
how do i downgrade to 3.1.2.... i have followed directions from another thread which i couldnt get to work. when i try it says the device isnt eligible for the requested build

Hi Guys & Gals,
I'm going to make the jump to an Intel SSD this weekend to replace my stock 320GB (5400 RPM) Drive in the 2010 Mac Mini.
Those of you that have actually done this, did you find that the Logic Board really needed to be shifted at all? I've been looking at the OWC installation Video and it would seem to me that the drive will lift out over the Logic Board without moving the board at all. It would mean that I would only have to detach the first SATA and two heat connectors. The least amount of connectors I have to pull the better I would assume. Also, I'm thinking that the black vinyl covering wrapped around the 320GB drive is there to protect the moving/electrical drive components on the bottom of the drive, which I would not need on the SSD. I know that I need/should replace the piece of tape to hold the heat sensor wire on the new SSD.
Any help would be great.....:)
2010 Mac Mini (2.4MHz - 8GB RAM Intel 80GB SSD(pending)) Air Port Extreme, 2TB Mini Stack External Dive, 16GB WiFi iPad, 32GB iPhone 3GS.

No. I've moved up early before on previous betas like Snow Leopard... didn't turn out that well. Learned my lesson. Waiting until Final, then I'll deal with the bugs.

I'm learning about the Picker View and was pretty disappointed that the book didn't go beyond basic stuff. I went thru several other books and online as well as the built in Apple help.
Not one had an example of putting a pic inside the Picker.
The book was a single column, no example of multi column, or custom widths or loading from array.
I still don't know if you make a separate array or multi dementional array, do pics get loaded from url or into array 1st, is there a refresh method if you wish to change the values from another object (say a button the changes the value of a pic or text inside the picker)
Basically I need MUCH more detail, eight book and not one goes into good detail.
Is there any book that REALLY gets under the hood and opens things up?
Of all the programming help/docs/books I read, it's pretty hard to imagine there's not a better book than these.
Amazon's preview thing is pretty worthless, can't get into the meat of the book, the 'contents' doesn't tell you enuff.
Thanks, KarlJay.

Just wait until more statistics are generated - then you'll see the revealing numbers.
Numbers!!???? I want more than NUMBERS ... I want the blood of the unforgiving weak minded X86 cronies who polute my eyes during every waking moment of my working hours.....
Fortunately I spend most of my work day asleep at my desk, thus quelling any urges to kill the fools ........
Second pointless rant aside, I'm gonna reckon that this may be the biggest selling PPC unit in the last 4 years, and the design of it, unlike it's 2nd gen predecessor that I love and want buried with me, gives scope for far more development of upgrade and improve.
I sense a second wave of the post '98 good times ...

It would be a bit hard to do that as Apple releases the beta's to developers and then they chronicle the details here on MR and other sites. The only way for them to hide anything would be to release a version to the public that was never beta tested. Which of course would likely lead to a lot of bugs and a bad user experience.

What are the logs for ?
The library folder is big GB

Thanks in advance.
Aren't there just some springy clips that you need to push in on either side of the rear, then you just pull up on the cover (from very distant memory and corroborated by this instructable http://www.instructables.com/id/Replace-an-Apple-IIGS-clock-battery/).
Remove the cover. You already know how to do this–just push in the locking buttons located on either side of the back of the case, and pull up gently on the cover.
EDIT: You just have to love the internet: http://www.apple-iigs.info/doc/fichiers/iigshardref.pdf

Don't get me wrong, I really love my Mac, and the aesthetics of it. The hardware is enough for my needs, and overall I would be happy...
Problem is I have had nothing but trouble with SL. Every application I have seems to have crashed at least one point in time. I never really had a problem with Leopard and, Leopard is what convinced me to switch to the Mac OS in the first place. However, now, I'm contemplating switching back to Windows (rather, using BootCamp full time).
It doesn't seem to matter if I use a different hard drive, swap out ram, etc. None of the problems I have are hardware based. It's all software.
I'm really just curious to see how many people feel the same way about Snow Leopard. In fact, the experiences I've had remind me of Windows XP. Nothing really wrong with any of my hardware. It's just none of my software seems stable.
I'm really hoping Lion turns out good though.

Sunset good. However there are tons of nature photographers.
Morepeople would pay money for photos of themselves, but to make a living doing nature photography you have to be really good.
Oh might want to try to get some where the animals look at the camera.
