Hello you cool, cool cats
So about a month ago I upgrade from Leopard to Snow Leopard (brrrr so cold)
About a week after that, I started having problems where my keyboard and trackpad would be unresponsive for about a minute. This would happen every few weeks.
At one point, it wasn't just a minute, but about 10-20 minutes. :( But other than that, it'd just be for about a minute and would work again.
Flash forward to today. It happened again, and it was one that still wasn't being responsive after 5 minutes. So, since I've been into my macbook a few times (replace optical drive and LCD), I figured I'd open it up to make sure the ribbon was all the way plugged in.
Well, it was all the way plugged in; Tried unplugging it and plugging it back in. Except now it won't turn on at all. :((((
So I was like "Yo google, my man, help me out!" And Google was all like "I gotcha, I gotcha" but google didn't got me. It seems unresponsive keyboard and trackpad is a common problem. One of the issues being a ribbon under the battery (Pressing it down did nothing) and resetting pram/smc (Except my keyboard doesn't work, so how do I do that?).
In order to make sure it was my keyboard that was broken and not the logic board, I short circuited it to power up (Which I found out how to do on this forum - If you read this wesli_1 I <3 you baby!) and that worked fine and I was all like ok!
Then I was like ha! I can reset the smc this way I think! So I held down the solder pads for a few seconds to reset the smc and was like plz baby plz! But still not working.
So yeah, I certainly assume problem = the upper case keyboard thingy and to replace it. But since I've read a lot about people with unresponsive keyboard/trackpad that buying a new keyboard did nothing to remedy the issue, I figured I'd check here first to make sure everyones like "ya bro that's the issue, now order one and forget that **** and let's get wasted!" and I'd be like "I don't drink but thanks for the help!"
It's a 2008 Macbook 4,1 if it matters.

Here's the deal. You need to understand how gas burning really works. You also are not at liberty to speak on what is or is not possible on that trip without actually having driven it - as I have.
He doesn't need to actually drive that trip to be skeptical of your claim of a thousand miles on a tank of gas. Frankly, I'm skeptical of it too.
The web is replete with stories of non-hybrid Altimas pushing 450+ miles.
Okay, but you're claiming double that. Not 10% more or 20% more - double.

I was disappointed that there was nothing for the Mac. Even just release dates/months for Leopard and iWork 07 would have sated me.
The iPhone is cool, but it's too expensive and has far too little memory for me to actually consider buying it.

Hey guys,
Anyone know of any drivers for a Linksys wireless USB Adapter for OS X?
I have a TiVo with the home media option, and would like to stream music etc, but I can't get the Mac or the TiVo to see the Adapter.
Needless to say, it came with a CD ROM stuffed with WIndows drivers.....

Other indications that this is PR spin/backpeddling:
1. They picked a size of 2mb for the db "turns out it was fairly large."
If they are ENGINEERS as Jobs says - they know how big 2MB is. They also know how much ascii data they can store in 2MB. Which is HUGE. GINORMOUS for straight text.
2. Deflected the very fact that this DB is stored on the computer. A bit of spin to imply that the only way to access it is by "jailbreaking"....
"We had that protected on the system. It had root protection and was sandboxed from any other application. But if someone hacks their phone and jailbreaks it, they can get to this and misunderstand the point of that."
----
"One thing I think we have learned is that the cache we had on the systemthe point of that cache, is we do all the location calculations on the phone itself so no location calculations are done separately. You can imagine in an ideal world the entire crowdsourced database is on the phone and it just never has to talk to a server to do these calculations (or) to even get the cache.
What we do is we cache a subset of that. We picked a size, around 2MB, which is less than half a song. It turns out it was fairly large and could hold items for a long time.

Overpriced. These games are ancient and most of them don't offer much gameplay at all. Plus it cost atari essentially nothing to put this app out. If they made it $0.99 for the hundred pack then it'd be no-brainer, we'd buy it just for the nostalgia alone. I could conceivably see paying up to $4.99 for the hundred pack for the very small handful of games that are actually worth playing. But $14.99 for these junky games? No way.
p.s., I'm not saying all old games are bad, quite the contrary, there are a lot of fantastic old games that still hold up well, but the atari era of games were especially crappy.

Download and install Aqua Extreme. Choose the "Obsidian" package after you download it.
Cheers to that. Not using it because some of my menubar icons didn't work out, but it's ok, I can live with the gray menubar :(

Guy had the sit-down one local for $750 in perfect condition - wow, sold it in under 1/2 hour...
The upright version of this one that was at my university's arcade got many a quarter from me. "Entering Sector 1... Point... 2." :D
I would have bought the sit-down one for that price, too. Some collectors would have paid more, just to get a working vector CRT.

Maybe where you live. I tried it in La Jolla, CA with Terk TV5 and I just was able to get couple channels and very choppy.Yeah I have to move my Terk TV5 antenna every time I change the channel. It's not easy. Very sensitive to antenna position A LOT.Sorry Multimedia. I even joined your yahoo group and I was very excite about the possibilities of the EyeTV500. I just turned out to be not the way you said.
It works maybe for you, but in some cases like mine require way more than what your are just saying.
I am just trying to make sure people are not going through the same hassle and disappointment I had.
so be aware!Sorry. Off air recording is obviously a crap shoot. I do have to tweak the antenna every time I change channels. So there is a lot of baby sitting the antenna I have to do all the time. Digital Broadcast TV is both a blessing and a curse. I wonder if it's a conspiracy by the cable operators to force subscriptions.

I'm feeling a little unloved at the moment.
Apple Computers are now Apple Inc.??
Phones? TV?
Where is the core support for the loyal computer spuds.
I know Leopard is on its way, but the keynote sounded a bit like Jobs has got himself some new Phoney and TVey friends now and doesn't really think we need some nice shiny new trinkets.
Totally understand the iPhone impact and the fact that its a new benchmark, but I really hope they don't lose sight of the core business, ie ME and and my 'puter

As for design, I'm REALLY hoping for a flip phone -- but something tells me Apple is going to go with a candy bar design. The only reason I hate those is because no matter HOW complicated it is to lock/unlock the keys, it manages to ALWAYS happen in my pocket. And then I unknowingly place calls to people without realizing it, which is my worst nightmare.
Yeah, the candybar design seems to be the general consensus, though I'd consider one depending on what it has to offer. I made the switch to a flip phone after my old candybar type accidentally made calls to the police (even if the keys are locked, apparently 911 still goes through); I had a very awkward conversation over the phone, as I got a call back after one of these calls was placed asking if everything was alright :o . I think because I was watching Goldfinger, they heard gunshots and yells. My new phone just randomly takes pictures in my pocket.

In the U.S., Google does own the map data (http://www.gpsreview.net/google-drops-tele-atlas/). For further confirmation, note that it says "Map data 2011 Google" in the footer when viewing U.S. maps, and says nothing whatsoever about TeleAtlas or Navteq (this is not the case for some other countries). They made this change back around October around the same time that the very first Google Maps Navigation app for Android was released.
Also, driving around (http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-9809094-1.html?tag=mncol;title) to collect map data is absurd?
I agree with you that the current iOS notifications system is terrible. But you do know you can keep Wi-Fi on and just turn off "Ask to Join Networks", right?
Yes, but wouldn't you get one of those awful pop-ups each time you detected a new network?
