Moscone North and South were already reserved for trade shows much bigger than WWDC more than a year in advance. It's all about the total number of attendees, and these big trade shows bring in an order of magnitude more people spending money in SF than either WWDC or Google IO.

I ordered a 30GB iPod and the standard white 1,83Ghz Macbook on September 2nd, and it said it was due to ship out on the 13th. I therefore thought that they'd upgrade the iPod (more likely than the MB) before sending it to me, but I just got an e-mail saying it shipped today.
Bit bummed that I didn't get the upgrade (well, I can only presume), but at the same time stoked to get my Macbook and iPod more than a week earlier than I first thought!

It has been reported, and confirmed by apple, the macbook delays have been due to the back-to-school rush, which happens every year. They've been conservative about ship dates during this time.

I stopped in one during the summer for a car power plug for the iphone as i was traveling. they had only 1 generic one for almost $40! I walked to kmart next door and chose out of 3 kinds and bought a car and home plug charger for $20.

Personally the Zune is looking fairly attrective right now. Ever since the 5th Gen iPod came out everyone has complained that it needed to be widescreen and have a bigger screen. I don't care for the WiFi sharing really but you have to admit the interface looks pretty nice.
The Zune is no more widescreen than the iPod is. And the resolution is exactly the same (320x240), it's just physically bigger on the Zune, and has been rotated 90 degrees compared to an iPod's screen.

And I'm still confused about whether or not the native Airport drivers are affected by this.

Remember something, Nipsy, i'm on your side here. I want Apple to do well just as much as you do. I just happen to believe that Apple needs to do it in a different way than you and I don't know why you needed to take this argument to insults, other than some need to always believe that you are right.

This is the exact reason i suggested that people let Apple know what they want. A company, one that wants to stay in business at least, will not completely ignore its customers and if you let them know what you want in large numbers, you may well get it.
If anyone has demonstrated lack of intelligence in this whole thread, Nipsy, it's you. You lie and misinterpret peoples posts in order to get your points across. Which, in the end, seem to be incredibly similar to the very points that you are dismissing.

There's pretty much none in Oregon, and I heard from one of my local walmarts that, the last they knew, they weren't going to recieve any shipments until june! It's ridiculous. Limited supply+scalpers+huge demand= SNAFU.

I would agree that just because a device has a high MP camera does not mean it will necessarily be a better camera than one of less MP. A great example would be Apples new A5 1Ghz duel core processor and how it dominates the Motorola Xooms 1Ghz duel core processor.
Iphone 4Gs keeps sounding better and better by the rumor. I can not wait to see it released and the new iOS!

I just downloaded the update, it told me something failed and I need to restore my iPhone. I am on try 3 and it is still failing every time it tries to restore. It's giving me error code 1013. I would stay away from this update for at least a day or two until others give feedback. It doesn't seem to be that critical of an update anyways.
As stated below, You just need to fix the host file. It gave me the same error earlier too :rolleyes:
It's not bricked. You've been using TinyUmbrella, so it didn't allow the baseband to get updated. Fix your hosts file and it will be fine.
Easy way to sort it, just put a hash in front of any lines that have gs.apple in and then try again!

I don't see how adjusting the UI at the last minute could be any sort of OK. Do you really want developers using the Tiger finder for the next 7 months, and then all of the sudden Apple goes BAM (Emeril Style) and puts in a brand new finder.
I want those developers to be able to integrate the finder with their apps. If all Apple is doing is adjusting some colors or icons or something, then we shouldn't be excited about the new finder in the first place. But if Apple is going to do some major revamping, shame on them for keeping it a secret.
People need time to work with it and find all the kinks, especially if it is dramatically different from Tiger.

If we're to assume the "Top Secret to prevent photocopying" theory, then these next 5 months are more crucial to Apple's development than the platform developers. Come January, Apple might spill all the details of the (currently speculative) Finder, and developers have from then until release date to incorporate it. Sure, it's a delay of 5 months, but think big-picture. If Apple's secretiveness prevents Vista from incorporating Leopard UI traits, it's worth the wait to make Leopard appear further ahead.*
*We all know this is a rumor site, but the above is purely speculation on my part.

Don't just blame Adobe...blame apple too. It's a code/OS issue. It's works perfectly on PCs.
1) nothing works perfectly on PCs :D

The capital region got a bit of ice last night. It was heavy enough to take down a tree about a mile from my house, and of course the power went out. So we came to a hotel for the night. This was taken about 100 yards down the road from the hotel.

So with that said, Steve will introduce the following enhanced products:
- New Cinema Displays, thinner, aluminium, LED backlight.
- New MacBooks (we know 13,3" LED displays were ordered by Apple some weeks ago), same design, new aluminium casing, LED backlight.
Apart from that, there are the changes that are likely going to happen:
- iTunes 7.6, including movie rentals
- iPhone 1.1.3 sofware (probably dubbed 1.2.0 or so)
- Updates on the 3G iPhone
None of the banners in the past really "teased" us with information about an upcoming product. They were just headlines offering some information about which route Apple was going.

I heard that from someone else, I tried it but that's referring to the amount of times it repeats. If you don't respond it will repeat that many times until you do. This issue is the double vibrate right when you get the text. I can see how people like it, but it's just annoying for me. My emails and texts are usually in the same importance level and I need to respond to either of them ASAP. It just feels weird and kinda wish they had the option. Oh well. Maybe in 4.3.2

^^ Not that the above arguments with said spouse can ever be won, but try pointing out to her that the amount of money she spends on hair appointments in just a few months would probably cover the cost of an iPad. If that doesn't work, then total up all the miscellaneous receipts that come from places like Walgreens, CVS, etc. If that doesn't work, remind her that you spent tons of money on her when you were dating ... money that she didn't have to spend on herself. When all that doesn't work, continue playing with your iPhone, as you sleep on the sofa.

Seriously though, not surprising at all considering that Macs (along with Thinkpads) are the best in the industry and people clearly know it.
I wonder if after a certain period of time and after enough market share is gained, viruses and malaware will start attacking mac os...
